Thoughtful Design

Looking back on the patterns of design we see consistent creativity but the output shifts between complexity and simplicity. Logos, websites, OS and products all experience this change in design.

Take a look at Coca-Cola, the most superior of carbonated refreshments by the way, has changed its logo 11 times since 1886. The logo was a simple and plain font in 1886. By the 1900’s the logo for the company became a personal font that gave Coke its branding…a brand, that stamped an impression that you’ll never shake from your mind. Every time you see those swooped letters with wonderful summer-memory-curves, you’ll think of a red can of Coca-Cola. In the 90’s the logo got more technical yet still contained the hand-script that that screams Coca-Cola. Currently the logo is back to the simple script created in the 1900’s, but with the red hue that’s painted upon every can.Another example of design gone simple, flat and beautiful is the new iOS7. Although not released, some of us have been ‘blessed’ enough to test out the new system early. The smooth functionality isn’t there yet, but that’s not what we need to talk about. The look and design has shifted greatly from the previous iOS. Before the look was meant to look as 3-dimensional as possible. There were shines, glows, shadows, and reflections in every aspect of the design of your iPhones, iPods, iPads, Macs and so forth. Now your everyday business tools are taking on a new sleek, smooth, clean and professional design.Seek your own creativity, inspiration and vision for your company.
