Top 5 Reasons to Be an Entrepreneur in Modesto

Forbes recently did a story on America’s Most Miserable Cities in 2013. Modesto, CA, where we are based out of, was ranked number 5 on that list. Due to a 15% unemployment rate along with 6,859 home foreclosures in 2012 Modesto earned it’s rankings among the big cities such as Chicago, IL, Rockford, IL, Flint, MI, and Detroit, MI.

With these facts in mind one would think Modesto is the worst place to start up their business. But we have all heard that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Where there is great opposition there is an opportunity for great growth. In the eyes of the nation, Modesto may seem like a dump, but to us here on ground-zero it’s a place of great opportunity.

1.) Opportunity

Hard times are opportunities for new leaders and new pioneers to step up to the plate. Just because almost 7,000 homes were foreclosed within Modesto last year, doesn’t stand as strong as the other 97% of homes that held strong. The competition in forms of other businesses may not be as strong in Modesto allowing your company’s strengths to be appreciated more greatly.

2.) Uncharted Business Innovation

The Modesto area does not have the same pull of ingenuity as the Silicon Valley, San Francisco or Los Angeles, but that doesn’t mean that those areas of business can not profit here. A top clothing line, restaurant or production company can do more than survive in the central valley, it can actually thrive. There are many areas of life and business that don’t exist in Modesto, but would be greatly appreciated and invested in if they were around.

3.) The People Desire Solutions

We hear enough about the problems and shortcomings of Modesto, but we do want solutions. The desire for something different that will work is great here. We want more jobs to combat unemployment and we want those who have their homes to keep possession of those. With your new business in Modesto you might be able to bring us that ground-breaking idea that can spark the morale of Modesto and get us back onto our feet.

4.) Hiring is Slim but the Self-Driven Make Room for Themselves

You’ve sent in 100’s of applications but to no avail. Their hiring has stopped, you don’t have what they’re looking for or they themselves are going out of business. Whatever the reason is, hiring is slimming and you need another route. When you take on the attitude your neighborhood-kid-gardener does, you’ll do so much more than just get by. When you tap into the thing that you are passionate at you’ll find working just became more fun.

Many are finding success through some websites such as Etsy where they are building their own crafts and selling them to other users across the world. Wether your strength is in crafts, moving, gardening or graphic design with enough passion and self motivation you’ll find yourself making money in things you love to do.

5.) The sky is the Limit

When you entrepreneur in Modesto you have no one to stop you but yourself. The success and end of your business will be held within your power. Failures will come, but they are not the end of anything.
The success of your business will also have the opportunity to grow past any regulation, structure or promotion. As the times change, you’ll have the ability to transform your business with them. Social media is in and driving consumers to your site for more information on what they need to buy or invest in, tap into that. As your own boss you will have the power to drive your company in the direction that you believe success and prosperity will lay.

These are the five reason why we believe being an entrepreneur in Modesto is a great idea. You can start your idea in the extra bedroom of your home, like Jerad did of Hill Media Group.
